Gist:Actor Chidi Mokeme Set To Host Gulder Ultimate Search 10

Controversial Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme has been officially announced as the host of Gulder Ultimate Search 10 which will take place in Usaka Forest, Obot Akara local government area of Akwa Ibom state.
The daily highlights of Gulder Ultimate Search will be broadcasted on national terrestrial and satellite TV stations from October 4 to October 31, 2013.
Chidi Mokeme returns after hosting the first, second and ninth edition of the reality TV show.

Past winners of the reality TV show, Ezeugo and Dominic who won the first and forth edition respectively have been selected as the gatekeepers for this year’s edition.
The lucky 12 contestants are Dr. Edmond Umebuani Chibuikem, EtidoEma Ebong, Okike Dennis, Chapele Tracy and Brosu Anthony. Others are IfunanyaOnike Michelle, Sheidu Onozare Halima, Ijeh Peter Oseleka, Ezidi Bobby Nzube and Salako Oladimeji Olukunle.
This year’s edition also features identical twins Mary and Martha Adeboye.

Most notably, he spoke about the recently released 10 richest artistes by Forbes

“I don’t believe very much in such things. Let’s be honest, the real wealthy people are the businessmen like Dangote and the politicians (some of whom got there by looting Nigeria). They’re the ones with real money. This entertainment business is too much hype. It is more fame than fortune. So I’m not thrilled to it and I don’t think any of us should buy into it too much. I’d rather be wealthy and quiet than famous and broke”.

Gist:Ice Prince’s Producer Chopstix Reveals Details About Fire of Zamani

Ice Prince's producer Chopstix who came up with the hits 'Aboki', 'V.I.P' and 'More' has exclusively revealed to HipHopWorld Online details surrounding Fire of Zamani- Ice Prince's sophomore effort.
In an interview with the producer he said the album will contain 15-17 tracks and will be a fusion of Hip Hop, Afro Pop, Highlife and other genres. Chopstix who is also a member of the group Grip Boyz said the album will feature guest appearances from Wizkid, Sound Sultanand others. In earlier interviews Ice Prince has mentioned that French Montana, Wale and Chipmunk will be the foreign guests on his LP. Chopstix won't be the only man behind the boards as Ice Prince enlisted the services of Don Jazzy, Sarz and Sammy Gyang to produce tracks on the album.
It would be recalled that on the 25th of January, 2013, Iceprince, the 2013 BET awards – Best International Act (Africa) winner, released one of the most anticipated songs of the Year- the monstrous remix to his 2012 hit, Aboki. Iceprincewho is now regarded as Chocolate City's main breadwinner followed up this single with new singles in May; Gimme Dat andVIP, continuing work with Chopstix as producer. The track VIP was criticized for bearing so much resemblance to his previous singles, Aboki and Aboki Remix. He later released another single – I Swear featuring French Montana. These songs are expected to feature on his upcoming studio album which is a follow up to his successsful 2011 – EverybodyLoves Iceprince (ELI) debut album.

Gist:Sound Sultan Taking a Break From Music

Sound Sultan is a household name in the Nigerian music industry. The veteran music activist, who recently dropped his sixth studio album, has revealed exclusively to Hiphop World Magazine Online that he is taking a break from music to enable direct efforts towards building his Naija Ninja brand.
This may not be a good news for the followers and lovers of this multiple-award winning artiste but he went on to say he hadn't quit, "I have not done ten percent of what I am supposed to do and currently, I have three artistes on my label. Until three of them drop their albums, I want to actually take a break and allow these talented guys to make their marks."

Gist:Chris Brown and Drake Reconcile!

After their epic bottle throwing brawl in 2012 at NYC Nightclub, word out at the moment has it that the two top music acts have decided to bury the hatchet.

According to New York Post,  Drake and Breezy hugged it out at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last weekend.

Sources told them Drake and his crew came to the music fest on last Friday specifically to watch Brown’s performance.

After Brown came off stage, the two were backstage hugging and drinking. The reunion went so well, the two even talked about creating some tracks together.

The mediator of the reunion was Def Jam music exec Abou Thiam — who’s one of Brown’s managers and a brother of rapper Akon.
Thiam is “very friendly with Drake, and worked to try and get him and Chris together to put their differences aside.

Two Yoruba movie stars Murphy Afolabi and fast rising actress Bimpe Akintunde were involved in an auto crash on Thursday afternoon.

Murphy was driving the vehicle when the incident occurred around 12.30 pm at Awowo old road in Abeokuta immediately they passed Obada Oko about 20 minutes from Adesba Hotel on their way to Ilaro.

Bimpe, who is still receiving treatment at a private hospital, said that "the front tyre of the jeep got burst on motion and the vehicle summersaulted four times before it stopped.”

Both were rescued by a samaritan, but with injuries.

How did you nurse Wande Coal to stardom?
It’s God . He started in the church choir when we were in Redeemed Christian Church, the source of inspiration for his career is God and I always tell him to return all glory back to God. And whatever the challenges that comes along, he should just tell God, “I have not called myself, I didn’t put myself in this position, you did so, God see me through”. So, we have learnt to rely and put everything in God’s care. It’s not any human effort but God. I am not so righteous to have such a star as a son but God has decreed that, whosoever He chooses to bless, He blesses.

How often do you see or when was the last time you saw him?
Oh! That was last month, he’s always busy as you know, he’s always engaged in his career, I have come to realize this and I cope with it but we talk on the phone from time to time.
 When he was growing up; was there any trait of him becoming a star?
I am a teacher, he started from school, in any gathering he would be singing and people would be rejoicing, sometimes he would crack jokes to the bewilderment of all and sundry. But I noticed that it was affecting his education and as a teacher, I didn’t like that, you know, so I started to scold him and made sure he had good grades from secondary school. I monitored him through the secondary school but when he got to the university, there is little I could do to have control on him, so that gave him the opportunity to fully delve into his music. Till tomorrow they still see me as a wicked mum because I was so strict with them about their education. When he was younger, he was always saying that he would want to be like Michael Jackson and I always tell him, this is Africa, Nigeria, You don’t expect what works for them there to work for us here. When he started going to dance competitions and he started winning, then I knew he was destined for that and I asked God in prayer to reveal to me if music was his calling. I didn’t know it would come that early, sometimes when he was going out, I would asked God to reveal to me if he was going to make headway in music and God revealed to me that he’s made to be popular musically. That was the time he won the Hyundai from Hip Hop Awards when he had not even released any record except singles.
 Briefly tell us about your name?
I’m Mrs. Omolara Ojosipe, I have been a teacher for 26 years but now I am in the Federal inspectorate section under the ministry of education. I am not supposed to grant this interview because I am in the civil service and I don’t want my face to show.

Gist:Blackface Signs N52M Record Deal With Franchise Events Limited

A few days after his celebrated war with his former band mate and friend, Tuface Idibia, fortune has smiled on Blackface as he has signed a N52 million deal with Franchise Events Limited.
The deal which also includes a car and a house sees Blackface become the record label’s biggest name.
Franchise Events Limited spokesperson said they decided to settle for Blackface because of his versatility, staying power in the music industry and his brand of music.

Controversies and scandals aside, Afro Hip Hop artiste, Eedris Abdulkareem, is happy that he chose the path of music, writes
Anytime his name is mentioned in a gathering, many incidents readily come to mind. For some people it is his scuffle with American rapper, 50 Cents, during his visit to Nigeria, in 2004. Others m­ay choose to remember his numerous swipes at colleagues in his songs.
However, beyond the many controversies that have dogged his career over the years, Eedris Abdulkareem, was once a professional table tennis player and journalist.
Recalling some of his exploits with a wide grin, the rapper says, “Back then, my passion was journalism, sports and music. As a hustler, you do everything but the most important thing is to get some form of education. I had a stint in journalism in Kano State with the Daily Times at the time, but I left because I wasn’t really passionate about it. More so, I was young and I thought it would not fetch me money.
At age 15, I represented Kano State as a table tennis player. I was also part of the Nigerian Table Tennis contingent to the All Africa Games in 1985, which took place in Kenya, with the likes of Funke Oshinaike, Atunda Musa and the late Yomi Bankole.”
The Bayero University, Mass Communication graduate says, “God told me emphatically that my calling was music because he wants me to use it to speak for the voiceless.
He said, ‘Eedris, leave Kano, you are going to go to Lagos to do music, you would go through a lot but you will make it nonetheless. As soon as you have the opportunity to speak on the microphone, use it to talk about the ills in the society like sexual harassment, politics, embezzlement and illiteracy. Also, I was interested in music because my mother raised 10 children and lost seven of them. It made me a very conscious boy at a tender age because of that.”

Looking back, the artiste, who has been in the game for two decades, says he is glad that he yielded to the call.
“I would have made more money from music if I sing praises. But if you are a public officer who is accountable, I will definitely praise you. With music, I have met all my needs and gained international recognition. I have the authority to walk up to any governor’s door and get instant recognition. They will say, “Ah, Eedris Abdulkareem, Obasanjo’s friend, Jaga jaga”. It has opened many doors for me and I don’t have to sell my soul to the devil or become a member of illuminati to be successful,” he says amid laughter.

When asked to comment on the high point of his career, his face lights up in a smile
“The best to ever happen to me was former President Olusegun Obasanjo talking back at me, calling me a mere street boy whose father is not known. The president took me to the next level, I became a super star, and now people know me, because Obasanjo put me in his level.”
As if these achievements are not enough, the rapper, who has been running an independent label, La Kreem Records, since 2004, is happy because he has succeeded in keeping the home front intact in spite of controversies.
“I love my family and wife so much that I don’t joke with them. I have been married for 13 years, though they thought it would last three months. I proved to them that it is possible to be a family man and artiste at the same time. I am an inspiration to other married celebrities,” he boasts.
Things can only get better, as far as Eedris is concerned. With a sixth album due in November, the Osun State native, who says he has a few friends in the industry, tries to clear a few issues off his chest.

"I don’t need endorsements, but I am cool with the shows that Mike Adenuga has been giving me. Shows are enough for me. I will endorse my own product which I am putting together. I need more shows because they pay my bills. If I tell you I want endorsements you may think that most of the things I sing about are for endorsement. I don’t want it, but I do it for other Nigerian artistes so they can live big. But if you must endorse, choose people that will add value to your life.
Endorsement is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. My only grouse is that abroad, endorsed artistes add value to other people’s lives. Here in Nigeria, it is the opposite,” he says.

Gist:Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Split, Call Off Engagement

The rumours that actor Liam Hemsworth was planning to end his relationship with Miley Cyrus because he believed her new erratic behaviour could hurt his career in hollywood is apparently true, because according to reports, the two have official split and called off their wedding and it was Liam who ended it. Reps for the singer and actor confirmed the split to E! News.

Miley, 20, and Liam, 23, got engaged in May 2012 after dating for over two years. Liam moved in with Miley shortly after the engagement but is said to be in the process of moving out of her LA home.

Miley over the weekend unfollowed her former fiance on Twitter as photos emerged of him with Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez partying it up in Las Vegas after the Mayweather fight
